I need something to get my blog going again. I just can’t find the motivation to come post anything. This is in direct conflict with my desire not see this blog die. The other day, while on the Internet somewhere, I saw the idea of completing an art project every day. When I saw this, the lightbulb in my head turned on and I realized that creating a digital piece every day and sharing it here would be a great way to jump start my blog again. So on Monday, July 18, I am going to begin my new project. At least once a week, I’ll be doing the weekly itinerary for Tangie Baxter’s Art Journal Caravan and once a week, I am going to do a 15 minute piece. Otherwise, I will just go wherever the winds of inspiration take me. I will then come share with you whatever I have created for the day.
To jump start things, I want to share with you a few of my latest creations. This first page was created when the new Mixed Media Monthly kit came out in June. I am pretty sure the whole reason I created the page was to continue to justify my subscription. I really loved the bright colors used in June’s kit. I suspect I will be returning to this kit again and again.
This page was created using Impasto Painted Brushes and Textured Gesso Papers from Just Jaimee, M3 May 16 Painted Mess Add-on and M3 May 16 Beautiful Creatures Add-on from Paula Kesselring, M3 May 16 Add-on 12×12 Overlays from Little Butterfly Wings, Sketch Book 10 from Lynne-Marie, May 2016 Mixed Media Monthly Kit from Little Butterfly Wings, Lynn-Marie, Nancie Rowe-Janitz and Paula Kesselring, PaperTear Actions from Mommyish and Tiny Dancer Silhouettes from Crafty Button Designs. Font used is Qaskin Black.
This next page was created for the May M3 3 Quote Challenge at The Lilypad. I love that while the May kit wasn’t as brightly colored as the June page, I will still able to create a page filled with color. I love using color. When I start creating a page with more neutral colors, I just can’t leave it alone until I add some blues, greens or reds to the page.
for the May M3 Quote Challenge Using May 2016 Mixed Media Monthly Kit from Little Butterfly Wings, Lynn-Marie, Nancie Rowe-Janitz and Paula Kesselring, M3 May 16 Beautiful Creatures Add-on from Paula Kesselring, M3 January 2015 Stencils and Brushes from Sissy Sparrows (now retired) and Love and Light from Quirky Heart. Font is LD Telegram.
I also subscribe to Tangie Baxter’s Art Journal Emporium. (Yes, I love my subscriptions.) Earlier this year, I wasn’t really taking advantage of my subscription, but I have been doing better since May. Here are a couple of pages that I have created in the Emporium.
This page was created for week 27 of Tangie Baxter’s Art Journal Caravan 2016. (It’s included in my Emporium subscription.) I think I explained in an earlier blog post that I initially had some problems deriving inspiration from the Caravan itineraries. This is no longer a problem for me.
The journaling is little different from what you normally find on one of my digital art journaling pages. One of the suggestions in this week’s itinerary was to scrap a list of favorite TV shows. I love scrapping lists, but I normally use a more traditional scrapping look for the page. This week, I took Tangie’s challenge and did a more artsy page. I really like the way it turned out.
This page was created using Anais’ Garden, Hattie, Crispin, Crispin & Closet and Crispin Papers from Rebecca McMeen; Amber’s Pages Vol 1 from Crafty Button Designs; Canvas Journaling Spots from Sugarplum Paperie (now retired) and Happy Life Magic Lights from NBK Designs. Fonts are Scratch My Back and Veteran Typewriter.
I think by now, you can see how much I love to scrap with bright colors. (Yes, I know I’ve mentioned this already, but it’s just so true.) However, sometimes I can leave my world of bright colors for something that is still filled with color, but not necessarily quite so bright as the pages above.
This page was created for the July Challenge in Tangie’s Art Journal Emporium. I chose to scrap the word “peace” as that is something I have been seeking a lot lately. I chose to scrap one of my own photographs of water because I usually find the beach or lake to be such a peaceful setting.
This page was created using Rejuvenation from Tangie Baxter, Mendi from Rebecca McMeen, After the Storm, an Oscraps Collab, (the sun recolored) and Maskin Momma V6 from Crafty Button Designs.
Since you made it this far, I want to thank you for taking the time to read my post. I have one more post I may do before Monday, but I hate to promise and then not get it done so I won’t. Regardless, I will be back on Monday to begin my 30 day Digital Art Challenge. (BTW, I’d love to have you join me in my challenge. If you decide to participate, leave me a comment on where I can see your creations.)
