Guilty pleasures. We all have them. Some of us, okay me, have more than one guilty pleasure. But I have one guilty pleasure that probably rises above all the others and that would be the Sonic Coke.
Growing up, I lived in a small town where all the local fast food joints (Ole Jax, Burger Builders and Sonic Drive-in) all had crushed ice for their cokes (for the record, this covers Dr. Pepper, Sprite, Fanta, etc). While I will drink cokes without crushed ice, it is not my preferred way. So when Sonic came to my area about 5 years ago, I was totally pumped. At last, I would have a good Coke.
As much as I love the crushed ice, it’s not the only thing that makes the Sonic Coke better. Too often when I get a fountain coke the mix of syrup and water is off. But not at my local Sonic The cokes there are always yummy.
I love my Sonic cokes, I even created a layout about them a few months ago. And I used my favorite color, red, all over the page. That is how much I love a Sonic Coke.
But of late, I had been enjoying my little guilty pleasure a bit too often. Okay, maybe 3 or 4 times a day, every day. But dang, it’s hot here in South Florida and the Sonic Cokes are really good. But that gets expensive. (And is a lot of calories too.) So over the last month I’ve cut back to one a day. I have no desire to give them up completely. A girl has to have her indulgences.
So, do you have a guilty pleasure. Leave a comment below and tell me about your favorite indulgence.
Until next time, don’t forget to document your memories.
Hi Cindy! Looks like we’re on the same schedule again today. 🙂 That’s interesting that Sonic uses crushed ice in their drinks. You’re right, I don’t think that’s very common! So you say “coke” covers all the different sodas, but which is your favorite? I try not to drink a lot of soda (I’m from the north, obviously, using that word!), but I love Dr. Pepper. You can’t get it outside North America (as far as I’ve found), and I travel most of the time, which means I end up drinking way too much of it when I’m back in the States for a visit! Definitely a guilty pleasure—and with crushed ice sounds even better.
AmyScott My favorite is imported Coca Cola from Mexico. It’s made with real sugar, like when I was a kid, rather high fructose corn syrup. If you to Texas, you can get Dr. Pepper, my second fav, made the same way. For awhile it was available in cans nationwide but not sure if it is any more.
Oh my, Cindy! I confess that my one naughty thing is COKE. So bad for us all. I love to drink a COKE now and then, just because I am a grown up and I can chose to drin a COKE or not
I got a good chuckle, thanks.
It’s hard to believe but all the Sonics in our area went out of business. I liked Sonics ice cream:)
That is surprising. There are a couple of Sonics about equidistant from me and they are both always busy. I would hate it if that happened here.
