Yes, today is the first day of my personal challenge to create a digital art piece a day. For the purpose of this challenge, I am including digital scrapbooking and digital art journaling page as well as digital pages that don’t fit well in to either category. I want to give myself the most room to be creative.
I could not get to sleep last night. It was after 4 a.m. before I finally drifted off. Needless to say, when I woke up this morning, my main thought for the day was that I needed more sleep. However, going back to sleep was not an option if I wanted to get a page done and update my blog. Since the thought of more sleep was pretty much crowding out all other thought, I decided to go with it for my digital art journaling page.
This page was created using Photoshop CS5. The background was created by blending together four different papers. When blending papers I tend to use either Darker Color, Lighter Color, Overlay or Hard Light. I then added a border to the page and clipped a paper to that border. Because I thought the border was a little too bright for the topic, I decreased the amount of the border being used by altering the Underlying Layer in the blending options. I finished up the page by adding several layers of elements to the page including gesso stars, artsy circles and the art doll. I also changed the Underlying Layer for many of the elements to create a more art journaling look. Normally, for titles, I tend to go with fonts cause it is just easier, but for the word “sleep” I used an alpha, added a color overlay to the black alpha and then changed the Underlying Layer here as well.
This page was created using In The Beginning Day-Night-Heavens, In the Beginning Water-Land and Messy Gesso Scatters from ViVa Artistry. Blue Period Mini Kit from Crafty Button Designs and Mish Mash Alpha Stash 4 from Captivated Visions. Fonts is SF Scribbled Sans.
Day one of my “Digital Art a Day” challenge is now complete. Yay!! I hope you enjoyed the addition of a little bit of my work process in this blog post. I’ll try to do that most days. I think it’s fun to have some idea how people have created their pages.
I’d love to have you join me in my challenge. If you decide to participate, even if it’s not every day, leave me a link to whatever you create so I can stop by and give you some love.
Until next time, don’t forget to document your memories.
