Maybe you are already as bored with me as I am. I feel like I am constantly posting the same thing in the same way. And what does that equal? Boring!! You know it. I know it. So I am going to try to make things a little more interesting around here. Can’t promise it will be here every week, but I will try to have it most weeks. Just depends on where I go with my blog that week.
Sunday was our first day teaching the CTR 4 & 5 class. David and I are still teaching together. We had eight children in our class; in a room big enough for about half that. After being in nursery for a 1.5 years, this class is a big change. I’ve taught this class before, so I am sure I will really enjoy it once I get used to the change. I can say that I really did enjoy preparing the lesson. I found it was easier to create a good lesson for children that are slightly older. The participation level in class was higher than I had expected and I was pleasantly surprised by what some of the children already knew. Our lesson for the week was on The First Vision. I found this great 2 minute video on the website that was perfect for the class. And because it was short, the kids paid attention to the whole video.
On Wednesday, we celebrated David’s birthday. We bagan with a lunch at Pueblo Viejo in Jensen Beach, which we both enjoyed. David had Huevos Rancheros and I had Chorizo con Huevos. So good. After that we headed over to Cinnabon at the Jensen Beach mall. It was our first visit since it opened. I should have stuck with the minibon like David. Would have been a much better choice. When we were done, we grabbed Sonic drinks and headed home so David could open his gifts. David received a backrest for watching tv/working on his computer in bed and a Bluetooth keyboard for use with his Nexus 10. We ended up doing his pizza dinner the next day, but I still think David had a pretty good birthday.
For Saturday, we had decided that it was time for one of our mini road trips. This time to Frostproof, Florida. This was one of those trips that my main goal was to take photos. Once we arrived, I got started quick. But I made a serious mistake right from the beginning. I didn’t confirm the settings I had on my camera. I thought I was in full auto-mode, except for using manual focus on the lens. I was wrong. And I had taken about 3 dozen photos before I realized that. Of the those photos, only two turned out (although one of those ended up being my choice for my Project 52 photo of the week). Once realized there was an issue and began using full auto or setting the aperture manually, then I managed to get some photos I really liked.
When we were done with photos, we headed to the local Maryland Fried Chicken. It’s a chain restaurant that I’ve discovered since moving to Florida. I am not a huge fan of their sides but I love the chicken.
When we were done eating, we still had plenty of time before we needed to head home so we went to the nearby Lake Wales Ridge State Forest. It was hot, and we didn’t have any water so we only stayed for a bit, but I was able to work some more on getting good photos. I was pretty pleased with the results.
Alas, I now have to tell the tale of the photo I didn’t get it. When we were driving out to Frostproof earlier in the day, we had seen a rather large wild animal that had been killed by a vehicle. On the return trip, we saw an American Bald Eagle enjoying himself a feast. Needless to say, as we got near, it flew away. It had stopped in a nearby tree, so I turned around in hopes of getting a photo, but it few farther away and I could not get a photo. I even drove down the road a few miles and returned in hopes of getting a photo. But no. So while I was at one point less than 6 feet away from the eagle, I did not get a photo. But I will be going back to try again, as it does have a nest in the area.
That wraps up our week. I have to say we had a pretty good week. I’ll be back tomorrow with some new layouts to share. Until then, don’t forget to take pictures!
