android-wallpaper5_2560x1600 (1)I love playing games.  More specifically, I love playing casual games.  I love games where I can go in, spend a few minutes and then get out.  Not that I don’t love a good game of Plants vs Zombies, but more often than not I am looking to pass a few minutes while waiting at a restaurant, in the car or at an appointment.  Casual games fill that spot perfectly.  So today, I am going to share with you five fun, quick games for your Android device.  All of these games are available for free in the Google Play store.  (f it’s also available in the Amazon App store, I’ve indicated it at the end of the description.)

2013-10-11 14.05.561. 250+ Solitaire Collection

I suspect I am not the only person out there who loves playing Solitaire games.  I’ve been playing them on the computer since Windows 95.  Needless to say, as soon as I got my first smartphone I went in search of Solitaire apps.  250+ Solitaire Collection is definitely my favorite so far.  There is enough variety in number of games and difficulty that this has become my ‘go to” Solitaire app. (Also available in Amazon App Store)

2013-10-11 14.05.392. 7×7

I was first introduced to this game through the All About Android podcast.  This game is simple but surprisingly addictive.  Your goal is to create horizontal, vertical or diagonal rows of same-colored blocks.  Each row must contain a minimum of four blocks.  On Level 1 it is fairly easy, but as your progress through the different levels the difficulty grows.  One thing I really like about this game is that stopping mid-game is not an issue.  Just pick back up where you left off next time you open the app.

2013-10-11 14.06.283. Blendoku

This is another game that I learned about on the All About Android podcast.  This game tests your abiity to differentiate colors.  I got this game, because I wanted to see if I would be any good at it.  (I didn’t think I would be.)  But I was better at it than I thought and it was quite a bit of fun.  This is another game that has a variety of levels of difficulty, so don’t be afraid to give Blendoku a try. (Also available in the Amazon App Store)

2013-10-11 14.07.204. Dots

I was first introduced to Dots on iOS.  The game play is simple.  All you have to do is connect dots of the same color.  You can connect, horizontal and vertical as well as forming squares.  The original game was timed, but there are now other game options.   This game may sound too simple to be fun, but it’s not.  There’s a reason it is one of the most popular games on iOS.  As an added bonus, you can connect to Twitter and Facebook to see how you are doing against your friends.  (Also available in the Amazon App Store)

2013-10-11 14.08.385. Dragon, Fly

When I was using my beloved Palm Pre, I always wished Dragon, Fly would come to the app store. It never did. So when I finally made the switch to Android, one of the first apps I got was Dragon, Fly. With Dragon, Fly you have a baby dragon taking a trip through the mountains and his mama is trying to catch up with him. When she does, game over. You play the game by pressing and lifting your finger from screen. And it is a blast. After two years on Android, I am still playing this game. I cannot more highly recommend this game. (I have linked you to the free version of the game. There is a paid version of the game also available. If you enjoy playing Dragon, Fly, please support the developer by getting the paid version. I am a big proponent of supporting app developers by paying for apps. It’s only $1.98, less than large fries at McDonalds and the enjoyment will last a lot longer.)

I hope you find at least one game that you can enjoy on your favorite Android device.  If you have a game you love, please let me know in the comments below.  I am always looking for new games to add to my collection.
