Avatar: The Last Airbender

It’s time to talk about another TV show that I highly recommend. This show originally aired on Nickelodeon as a show for children. While this is definitely a child friendly show, it is a show that can be enjoyed by adults as well. The show I am talking about is Avatar: The Last Airbender.

The Last Airbender takes place in a world made up of four nations that are at war.  Well, actually one of the nations, is attacking the other nations.  It is the Avatar’s responsibility to bring peace to the world.  Alas, he has disappeared.  The show begins with a brother and sister who discover the Avatar, a child himself, frozen in a block of ice.  The three seasons cover the adventures of the three children.  I don’t want to tell you more about the storyline so that I don’t throw in a bunch of spoilers.

What I do want to say is that I think Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the most under appreciated shows on television.  This is a show for children.  It’s not a show just for children.  My husband and I do not have children and we love this show.  In fact, I just finished watching the entire series again.  This show is beautifully animated and the storyline is extremely interesting.  The characters in the show are interesting and you definitely come to love them.

One other thing I must mention.  If you saw the Last Airbender movie directed by M. Night Shyamalan and hated it, don’t let that affect your decision to watch the TV show.  I absolutely hated the movie.  It is in no way a reflection of the TV show.

They are currently running episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender on Nicktoons.  If you are a cord cutter like myself, you can find it streaming on Amazon and it’s free if you are an Amazon Prime member.  However you watch your TV, do not pass up Avatar: The Last Airbender.  This is an excellent show.
