I first began blogging in the summer of 2006. I was looking for a better way to share photos, layouts and happenings in my life with my family friends. I have been blogging off and on since then. At some point, I decided to increase the number of topics I covered to see if I couldn’t get more followers. I purchased my own domain. I left Blogger and tried both WordPress and Squarespace. During all of this, one key point remained. I blogged about the things that really interested me. But at some point in the last six months. I became focused on trying to figure out what I could post that would attract readers. The problem is that I am not seeing a huge increase in readership, but I am seeing a decrease in my interest in blogging.
I realized this when I began working on the 8 years Ago I was… scrapbooking challenge at OScraps. I knew I really didn’t have a calendar to remind me of what I did eight years ago, so I thought the list I created would be very short. Then I realized that 2006 was the year I started blogging. After going through old posts, I realized that it was a pretty good year and I could create quite the list of happenings. I think if I had to use my blog to figure out what happened in 2013, I would be very disappointed. (Thank goodness for social media.)
So I will be making some changes to the blog. (I know this isn’t the first time I’ve posted this. lol) This doesn’t mean I am going to stop my tech posts, I love those. And I am still going to be looking to options such as NaBloPoMo for blog prompts cause I need inspiration. I still want to be posting every day. However, I am going to be looking for meaningful way to share my favorite hobbies such as digiscrapping and photography on my blog. I am also going to be posting regular posts about what is going on with me. It’s not good enough for me to post only what I think others want to read. I want to be interested in my own blog. I will totally appreciate your patience while I make changes. I hope my readers will stick around during these changes. I think you’ll find a more worthwhile blog.
I hope everyone is having a good Saturday! Until next time, don’t forget to document your memories.
Go for it Cindy! If it makes you feel good – then write. It’s great therapy for anything that’s bugging you at any given moment – at least it is for me! Just goes hand in hand with my scrapping and anything else digital and creative…learn something new every day…have a great day!
