Starting today, I am going to regularly create a post called “Currently”. The purpose of this post is just to share a little about what I am doing these days. I got this idea from a very popular Project Life card. And while I love the idea behind Project Life. It just didn’t work for me. So I decided to move a small part of it to my blog. I am hoping my blog readers will be a little interested in what I am up these days.
First of all, I am experiencing rain. Lots of rain. Not that rain in South Florida is something new. But for the last couple of days, we’ve had plenty of it. Not just the regular afternoon rain shower. And we are expecting more today. The good news is that the rain also brings cooler temperatures. Always nice in September. Thankfully, the rains have been nothing like what has been experienced in Colorado. I feel so bad for all those affected by the disaster. It almost seems weird to even talk about the rain we are having. But it is still a part of my everyday life right now.
On Friday night, for date night, David and I went to the Food Truck Invasion at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center. I’ve been meaning to out to the on in Tradition ever since they started having them, but so far had not made it. When I found out there would be one last Friday at the Civic Center, I knew what our date night activity would be for the week. It did not disappoint.
I am not saying I loved everything. I would definitely skip the fry truck next time. And I wish I had gotten the Summer Rolls rather than the Spring Rolls because they were not fried and it is still hot in Florida. But David had really good Pulled Pork Tacos. And one of the trucks had actual herbal iced tea. So yummy. (We also had their vegan, “raw” dragon fruit cheezcake. Was more like an ice cream pie, but it was pretty good.) I also had a really great salad from one of the food trucks. It was all greens and sprouts and was so delicious. (I am waiting for my salad when I took the picture to the left.) I never expected something like that salad from a food truck and it was so good.
I’m afraid I don’t have a picture of the biggest surprise of the night. For my dessert, I had a vegan, gluten-free peanut butter cup cupcake. I was amazed. David actually tried to discourage me from trying it, because he was afraid I’d be disappointed. And I knew I was taking a big chance, but it was definitely worth it. It was so moist and yummy. I could not believe it. (And it was cute too, which is why I wish I had a picture. But the cupcake was not destined to be in my “hands” for long. lol)
On Saturday night, we went to the International Night at church. I have to admit that normally I skip the ward activities. But I volunteered to create a centerpiece about New Mexico for one of the tables. (They had nation displays with food around the edge and the states had US state centerpieces.) At the left you can see the display I created from all three sides. (Thank you PhotoGrid!) As I said, I normally don’t go to these activities. (I am naturally a very shy person.) But the food was good and we enjoyed the conversation at our table. However, the night had to end a little early for us. We actually didn’t really get to see the performances. After the food was eaten, I decided to go ahead and put away the parts of the centerpiece (after seeing someone else do the same). When I got to the car, I found our car battery dead. (Big thanks to Bro. Mejia for his help charging the battery!) Once the battery had charged, we immediately headed to one of the auto parts store to see if we needed a new battery (we did not). But we did enjoy the night while we were there.
That probably covers the most interesting things I have done lately. And that brings us to “Currently I am…”
This week, I am currently
Reading: The Lost Gate (Mither Mages) by Orson Scott Card. I am actually reading this an an Audible book. And admittedly I haven’t listened in awhile, but this is my current book.
Watching: Tiger & Bunny I saw the Manga at Barnes & Noble. It looked interesting, so I decided to see if there was an anime of the manga. And I found it. The story is about a city protected by corporate sponsored superheroes. And I have to believe that if we really had superheroes this is how it would work (sadly). I’ve watched three episodes and so far I am liking it.
Listening: Thanks to Google Music All Access radio, I’ve been listening to a lot of older country music. And I had forgotten how much I really enjoy it.
Making: Scrapbook pages. Still working on the 30 Lists project that I have just loved. You can see all my completed lists in my
September 2013 30 Days of Lists gallery. I’ve also been busily making pages as a member of Crafty Button Designs creative team. Plus I am still doing work for Michelle Batton and Merkeley Designs.
Feeling: Frustrated. Things are just not going the way I would like them to go. Hoping that will turn around soon.
Planning: I actually don’t have a lot of plans right now. I think I need to plan a day trip for the near future. Something to shake things up around here. lol
Loving: David and my furry and feathered kids, Sanosuke, Sazume, Cocoa, Dumplin and Mr. Tiel. That’s not going to be changing in the near future. But don’t worry, I won’t keep repeating myself every time I do this.
That’s enough about me. What have you been up to lately? Leave me a comment and let me know what you are currently doing. Or link me up to your own “I Am Currntly…” blog post. I’d love to read it.
Until next time, don’t forget to document your memories!
