Game Recommendation: Hill Climb Racing

I have a new smartphone game recommendation for you today. This recommendation comes with great news for Windows Phone 8 users. This game is available for your device as well as for Android and iOS users. The game I am recommending is Hill Climb Racing from Fingersoft.

Based on what I saw on Fingersoft’s Twitter (@Fingersoft) account, Hill Climb Racing has been around for a couple of years. I only learned of it recently when David purchased a Nokia Lumia 635 and the game was included on the phone for free. My husband was addicted almost immediately. I gave it a try and wanted the game on my phone. Boy was I glad it was available for my Android phone. (In fact, it was released on Android first.)

The game play is straight forward. You use the gas and break to control your vehicle and collect coins. Of course you need to do this without flipping the car or running out of gas. The latter is pretty easy to accomplish. The former not so much. That doesn’t mean it’s not fun to keep trying.

As you collect coins, you can use them to purchase new stages or new vehicles. You’ll start out in the Countryside with a Jeep, but there are several more stages and vehicles you can collect. I’ve already added the Desert and Arctic stages along with the Motorcycle and Monster Truck. I’m most excited to get the Christmas stage.

It is extremely easy to get started and play the game. Definitely a game your kids could enjoy as well. Being simple does mean it does not become addictive. Once you get started, you’ll want to keep playing. It’s just a lot of fun. I think it’s the simplicity that keeps it fun.

You can play this game on smartphones and tablets. However, I will recommend you play it on your phone. I’ve tried both ways and have found the game to work better and be more fun to play on my phone. (And it’s not often that I prefer the phone experience.)
