This afternoon I was watching a video depicting The Last Supper of Jesus Christ. (It was an excellent video and I highly recommend it. Of course you already know this if you follow me on Facebook, Twitter or Google+.) In the video, Christ said “[t]hese things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) And these words just spoke to me and I decided to do some study of the peace that comes from Christ.
In a minute, I will share with you what I read this afternoon. (And I will be doing more study during the week on this topic cause it is a topic that is really important to me right now.) But I want to share something that I came to realize during my studies that I think is often missed. (I know it was by me.) The peace that comes from Christ isn’t necessarily about a lack of strife, adversity, war or cruelty. Not that all of those aren’t really great and those will come when Christ comes again. But the peace that we often miss is the peace that comes from within as we follow Christ and try to be more like him. As followers of Christ, we will experience tribulation. Christ told this to his Apostles at The Last Supper and I have no doubt it applies to followers today. However, as we follow Christ’s teachings and seek to become more obedient, peace within can grow and we can feel the piece that Christ promised.
Here are just a few of the references I studied this afternoon if anyone wants to read more regarding peace from Christ.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday!
