2016 Presidential ElectionThis letter is specifically for my Republican friends who have yet to vote this primary season. You have a very important duty. The importance of this duty can not be understated. Soon, you will have a chance to vote in the primary elections. Currently, your choices are John Kasich, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump.

One of these candidates has gotten a lot of media coverage. This candidate has become very popular with Republicans during this election season. Currently, he leads in the delegate count and momentum is definitely in his favor. However, this is a candidate that I believe absolutely needs to be stopped. I am not here to ask you to vote for a specific candidate. I am here to ask you to please not vote for Donald Trump. Please follow Mitt Romney’s advice and vote for whichever of the other three candidates is most likely to win in your state. If you live in Florida, that candidate is most likely Marco Rubio. In Ohio, you are looking at John Kasich. In other states it may be Ted Cruz. Look at the polls in your state and then choose wisely.

This nation cannot afford to have Donald Trump as our President. He is a misogynist. He is a narcissist.  He is an angry man who makes no attempt to appeal to the best in us. Rather he encourages fear. He encourages anger. He encourages hate. Donald Trump is not the anti-establishment candidate. I don’t know how he has managed to convince so many people that a multi-billionaire is anti-establishment.

Donald Trump does not care about you. He does not care about this country. He cares about one person and one person only, Donald Trump.

We are running out of time to stop Donald Trump. The Republican Party needs a brokered convention if they want to have a chance to stop Mr. Trump. My Republican friends, you can help the party achieve this goal. How? By voting for anyone but Donald Trump. Preferably by choosing the candidate most likely to win in your state whose name is not Donald Trump.

To be honest, I can’t believe I am having to write this post. When Donald Trump announced he was running for President, I thought that would last for about two weeks. After that Mr. Trump would drop out because no one was interested in what he had to say as a politician. I was wrong. After he declared John McCain to not be a war hero, I thought he was done. Yet he continued to grow in popularity. I actually came to the conclusion that maybe people just wanted him around as entertainment, so I figured when he actually lost the Iowa primary that we were seeing the true level of his popularity. Again, I was wrong. So now I am writing this letter.

Please, when you go to vote in the upcoming primary elections in your state, please vote for a candidate other than Donald Trump. Please! Do you need to know more about the other candidates? At the bottom of this post are buttons linking to the homepages of each of the other candidates. Learn more about them. Choose one of them.

I am not a person that votes based on party. I vote for whichever candidate I think is best. However, I have always felt assured that no matter which candidate became President, the United States would be okay. For the first time since I started voting in 1988, I do not feel that way. I believe that Donald Trump is a danger to the safety of the United States. I believe he will be a danger on the world stage. He has to be stopped.

I am not here to ask you to vote for a specific candidate. Who you choose is up to you. I am asking you not to vote for Donald Trump. Our country needs you to make that choice. Please do not vote for Donald Trump.
